I came to explore the craft…oh how wrong I was, Well maybe I was wrong, judgement reserved.

today we set out to explore Lewis they have great tourist road signs. As it isn’t a beach day ( sideways wind and rain, but plus 5) our first stop was a black house. Called this because they didn’t use the white lime to coat the inside. Absolutely amazing building where both people and animals lived in the winter . The walls were incredible 2-3 feet deep. Similar to buildings I have seen in other cultures but well made and I dare say comfortable. The herring bone pile aboveis Peat (second from left on bottom). It was surprisingly dry and solid

In the summer the people moved with the animals to smaller homes in the fields.
