back to the V&A

So back I went today to see if I could clarify what I thought and heard.

For those of you who choose to follow along this is more of a personal diary of my travel. Spelling and grammar are not a priority. My goal is to record my thoughts and experiences so I can revisit them later, and to share with you so that we may discuss and provoke new ideas.

Early this morning I walked to where my Great Grandmother Susan Gray was born, and to a place where her parents both grew up. It was a beautiful day, and an interesting journey for me. The houses no longer stand, there is a Mosque in the area where both my great great grandparents grew up. I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for what they went through to get me here. Part of the V& A Tartan show was a recorded 5 minute excerpt from the play The Black Watch… (see it if you can ) which talks about a lot of things, but they mention how Canadians and Americans love the Scots, because we have no history of our own. Interesting thought , again to ponder, why my personal history is so important to me and my work?

After that back to the V & A

This was the museum tag under the introductory video That begins with “As part of our work to decolonize the Scottish design Galleries, we have started to re-write some of our objects label texts, working together with an advisory group. The film explores that editorial process from different view points……”. The video was inspiring, and enlightening, even refreshing!
